K’Gari, also more commonly known as Fraser Island is the worlds LARGEST sand island! It’s a location on the East Coast of Austaria that simply can not be missed! As the island is HUGE with penly to see we always suggest going over to the island for 3 days and 2 nights. On the trip you will visit Lake Mckenzie & Wabby (The Natural Tea Tree lake), Indian Head, Champagne Pools, Eli Creek and the tropical rainforest.
This BackPacker safari tag along tour provides you with the flexibility of driving your own jeep and you’ll have an Aussie tour guide who leads the way.

Tour information:
The tour will start from either the Drop Bear HQ which is in Noosa or you can arrange to meet the tour at the Shell Service (Petrol) Sation in Rainbow Beach. Please note you must attend a safety briefing prior to heading over to the island, the safety briefing is at the Drop Bear HQ in Noosa on the morming the trip starts if you arrange to start the trip in Rainbow Beach you will need to contact the tour company 3 days before the trip starts and they will give you instructions of where to do the safely briefing.
You leave you big bag in the Drop Bear HQ in Noosa or you can make arrangements to leave this in Rainbow Beach. You can then pack a small bag for the duration of the trip.
3, 2, 1… You’re then ready to visit the world’s largest sand island and explore it by 4WD!
Fraser Island is one of our favourite adventure experiences and you’ll love everything that this incredible island has to offer! There’s no such thing as roads on Fraser and you’ll be swapping the rainy highways of home for the 75 mile beach highway and will be driving along the beach and tracks through the forest, it’s an experience like no other and this will certainly get your adrenaline going. The island is super remote and very few people actually live here, there’s incredible wildlife to see, look out for the island’s resident dingos, goanas and whales (during the migration season).
This 4WD tag along tour will show you the islands best locations and you’ll be shown around by legendary experienced guides! You’ll see all of the islands highlights including the crystal clear Lake McKenzie, tea tree Lake Wabby, float down the natural lazy river Eli Creek, visit indian head to take in the views or chill in the bubbling champagne pools and see the historic maheno shipwreck.

I had a call with Ryan who was super nice, knowledgable and made me feel really at ease with making my decision. He asked me all about what I want to do and achieve on my trip, although I didn’t really want to pack too much in… nor gave much detail on what I want to do, he gave options and ideas for me to look into. He used his own experience as an example which was really helpful to hear and made me feel like I’m right at home with RatPack, I knew then I was making the right choice by talking to him. He answered any questions I had, even if they seemed like silly questions to ask. The booking process is really easy and straight forward, they do all the hard parts for you. Once Ryan talked me through my options, I made my selection and all I had to do was enter my card details for the deposit and I was done! George has been amazing. He put together the costings for our trip, and then I changed the dates completely and he redid everything and said it wasn’t a problem. I felt that he worked hard to get me the best deal, advised me which pickup town was the best deal, when was the best time to travel, and how I could save money by adding a day to our trip (yes, it was cheaper to go for 21 days than go for 20!). George sent through mountains of advice on travel destinations, camping sites etc. I would definitely recommend RatPack Travel and George.

Important info:
You must attained a safety briefing the day before the tour departs at the Drop Bear hostel.
This tour runs from 7am on the first day and returns around 5 pm on the third day. The return time may vary depending on the ocean tide.
Example if you left on a Monday at 7am your would return on Wednesday at 5 pm.
